The Beginning of a Brand-New Small Group Ministry at FBC! We are calling it:
“First Friends Fellowship”
This New Small Group Ministry replaces our traditional 6:00 PM Sunday, speaking of the Night Family Hour. Why move to a Small Group Ministry focus? First, because it is Biblical. Acts 2:42, speaking of the birth of the church states: “And they (the early church) continued stedfastly in the apostles DOCTRINE and FELLOWSHIP, and in BREAKING OF BREAD, and in PRAYERS.” Basically, what this verse tells us about the early church is that the believers did life together. Life transformation can only occur as people interact with Scripture and the Holy Spirit works in the heart. This happens best when believer meet in community.
Our purpose for this New Small Group Ministry is simple: “Life transformation through the study of Scripture.” It is NOT about a check list, but instead, a “changed heart” that naturally produces change in ones:
- Core values and behaviors
- Significant desire to know God in authenticity through His Word;
- Natural orientation toward prayer;
- Growing compulsion to communicate the gospel;
- Purposeful giving of time, talents, and resources in a natural outflow of spiritual gifts.
This Small Group(s) Ministry will meet the first and third Sundays of each month. The group will meet Sunday, January 16th at 5:00 PM at Pastor & Edie Maskell’s home. We will begin viewing the video series: “The Truth Project.” This first lesson will deal with the questions:
- What is truth?
- Why is it important?
- What role does it play in the biblical view of the world? What is God’s purpose for the cosmos, His will for mankind, His plan of salvation, and the way we live our personal lives?
We trust you will pray about what God would have you do as it relates to the NEW Small Group Ministry: “First Friends Fellowship” at FBC! We look forward to seeing you!!
