We are certainly living in perilous times. More and more we hear of people suffering with the COVID-19 virus, family members and friends.
Peter, in 1 Peter 5:10 reminds us, “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.”
God will use everything. Whatever you are facing right now, this moment, you can be sure there is a higher purpose in it, even if you cannot see it right now. The little shepherd boy, David may not have known that fighting a bear and a lion would prepare him to face the giant Goliath. As he scattered the predators of his flock with his trusty slingshot, he may not have realized how the Lord Almighty was honing and perfecting his aim. But neither of those instances was happenstance. God was working.
In like manner, it’s no accident that you’re experiencing what you are today. You may not sense God’s instructive, purifying, and refining work in your life, but God the Father is certainly working behind the scenes to restore, establish, and strengthen you, I promise.
God doesn’t make mistakes, and He doesn’t do anything without a purpose. This challenge you face will most certainly work for your good (Romans 8:28). So take comfort that His hand is in this situation, and thank Him for being your ever present help, hope, and salvation.
Prayer thought: “Father God, thank You for being with me in this situation and working through it to perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish me. Truly, your grace is sufficient and You are good to me, amen.”
Today, make your focus to discover the purpose for your particular trial.
