The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
What does Paul mean when he says, to be transformed by the truth? Romans 12:1-2 can be divided into three goals for us to pursue: 1. present your body as a living sacrifice; 2. do not be conformed to this world; and 3. be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Being a living sacrifice is how we honor God. We are to live in a way that glorifies Him.
Not conforming to the world means that we refuse to live according to the faulty standards and practices of our fallen peers. We will not be pressed into the mold of our sinful culture.
Transformation of our minds signifies that we adopt a new way of thinking. We replace our selfish and distorted thought patterns and replace them with God’s truth.
And all together, it indicates that you are made better- gloriously changed as the Lord directs. The apostle Paul put it this way in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
This will be challenging, but is totally worthwhile. So be a living sacrifice and trust the Lord to do astounding thing in and through you.
Prayer thought: “Lord, mold my life and transform my mind so that I may become the person You created me to be, amen.”
Today’s focus: As you follow Christ your life WILL BE TRANSFORMED!
