Have you ever felt alone, even in a crowd? When feelings of loneliness engulf you, there’s something you can do right away to overcome those feelings, turn your focus away from what you don’t have towards what you do have. As a born again believer what do you have? God Himself.
John 15:9 reads, “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.”
You’ll never be alone once you’ve trusted in Jesus as your Savior. His Holy Spirit comes to dwell within you permanently when you receive Him as a guarantee of your salvation. You are connected to Jesus just as a branch is grafted to a vine – His divine power giving you everything you need to live.
As a believer God is dwelling in you, and you are to abide in Him (John 15:4, 6-7). You share with Him the most profound relationship possible, an eternal spiritual intimacy. But realize the depth of your closeness with Him is – to a great extent – up to you.
So turn to the Lord and say, “Father, I need You! Only You can fill my heart and take this loneliness away.” In so doing, you invite Him to reveal His presence to you and express your faith that He does, indeed, take away your loneliness.
Prayer thought: “Lord, thank You for Your wonderful presence. You are more than enough for every need I feel! Draw me close to You, my Savior, amen.”
For today, make your focus to enjoy His presence.
