Our verses for today are from the Book of Luke, chapter 8, verses 24 & 25:
“And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commanded even the winds and water, and they obey him.”
Jesus, our Master, was a realist. He never called those who followed Him to live in denial of trouble and He didn’t shield them from adversity. He allowed the tempest to assail them and called them to have faith in the midst of the worst storms.
All trials are passing in nature. God allows them for a season and for a reason. Do not make the mistake of thinking your circumstances will never change or that they will destroy you.
Because God is with you, you do not have to give in to, sink beneath, or become defeated by troubles. You can face them head on. You can confront them, even challenge them, deal with them, and – in the end – overcome them. You can have the victory because your all-sufficient God is with you!
So today, allow that truth to bring joy and consolidation to your heart.
Prayer thought: “Father, I will live my day in confidence, knowing You are watching, directing, caring for, and loving me, amen.”
For today, remember He is the source and the strength of your faith.
