When God points out areas of your life to work on as He did with David, it’s because He loves you. He wants to cleanse you so that you will be filled with His life and joy.
David wrote in Psalm 51:9-10, “Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” In verse 12a David wrote, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation.”
But be aware, these are the very times you will be tempted to run away from God the Father, imagining He’s angry with you or no longer loves you. Don’t do it. That’s what Satan wants you to believe. Stay the course and develop your relationship with Him.
Because it is when you’re willing to sit before the Lord and allow Him to expose your heart that your life is truly transformed. He prunes whatever isn’t spiritually edifying from your life. Jesus said in John 15:2, “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it my bring forth more fruit.”
Hebrews 12:1 says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”
So whatever God brings to your mind today, the best thing you can do is admit it, cofess it, repent of it, and deal with it. That’s the sure way to keep your sweet fellowship with the Father alive and healthy.
Don’t ignore God or rationalize your actions because that will only hinder your growth spiritually. Rather, humble yourself before God, confess your transgressions, and ask Him to cleanse you. And be assured – He will never turn you away!
Prayer thought: “Lord, cleanse me so that I can enjoy uninterrupted fellowship with You. Thank You for forgiving me, amen.”
