One of the incredible abilities of Jesus was to stay on target. He never lost track of His ultimate aim in life while on earth. His life never got off track like ours so often does. Jesus kept His life on course.
As Jesus looked across the horizon of his future, he could see many targets. Many flags were flapping in the wind, each of which he could have pursued, but he didn’t. For example He could have been a political revolutionary, He could have been content to be a teacher and educate minds. But in the end He chose to be a Savior and save souls.
In Mark’s gospel, chapter 10 verse 45 it says, “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
Anyone near Christ for any length of time heard it from Jesus himself. Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” The heart of Christ was relentlessly focused on one task and one task only. The day he left the carpentry shop of Nazareth he had one ultimate aim – the cross of Calvary.
In 2 Peter 3:9 we read, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promises, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Christ’s ultimate aim is YOUR salvation!
