As a disciple of Jesus do you ever feel weak? Perhaps you feel as if your hope has all but failed. You’re faith is gone. You’re trying to cling to God’s promises, but the pain continues to return and you wonder if He’s really going to come through for you when you’re so weak.
Perhaps you find yourself crying out like the father in Mark 9:24, “I believe, help thou mine unbelief.”
Yet understand – the fact that you’re turning to the Father is evidence of the faith necessary for victory. You still believe He has the answers and will help you. Good!
Hebrews 11:6 reminds you, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
The focus of your faith should never be about how strong you are but about your utter dependence of God – who has the outcome under His control. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
The question is always: “Will you trust Him, even in this? Will you choose to believe that no matter how confusing or excruciating this is, He is still sovereign and will cause ‘all things to work together for good’ (Romans 8:28).”
You don’t have to be strong, you just have to be His. So declare your trust in the Lord and obey Him. Believe – for He will certainly bring your unbelief to an end.
Prayer thought: “Lord, I will trust You. You are the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Thank You for helping me, amen.”
