As a believer in Christ Jesus, do you realize the victory you have because of Him? As a disciple of Christ you have everything necessary to triumph over sin.
The apostle Peter tells us in 2 Peter 1:3, “According as his divine power hath given unto us ALL THINGS that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”
In 1 Peter 1:5 we are told, “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthian 10:13, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you t be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
So, how do you have victory over sin? Here are three steps you can take.
FIRST, admit when something is a temptation and acknowledge that God can free you from it. When you’re willing to accept your vulnerability and choose to depend on the Lord, you’ve taken an important step toward victory.
SECOND, look at the big picture. Ask yourself, “How will this affect my future? Will it distract me from God’s will?”
THIRD, recall the Father’s promises and set your mind on what honors and please Him. Temptations are real and they are often powerful because they play into your anxieties. Don’t allow disappointments and setbacks to lead you to sin. Trust that God can and will fulfill His Word to you.
When you feel the lure of sin, conquer it by seeking the Savior. It won’t be easy, and sometimes deliverance will take time. But always seek to honor Christ and He will certainly teach you how to overcome.
The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 8:27, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
Prayer Thought: “Lord, You know my struggles, but I’m confident You’ll help me overcome them. Thank You for the victory, amen.”
