Have you ever just stopped and considered who you really are? I love what the psalmist David wrote in Psalm 139:13-16 about who we really are. I would encourage you to take a few minutes and read that portion of Scripture and here’s why, You may be tempted to define yourself according to what other people say about you. For example, your looks, occupation, education, or even your wealth. But such measures of your worth are faulty, temporary, and ultimately unproductive. And perhaps you’ve noticed that it’s the negative experiences that influence how you view yourself far more profoundly than the positive ones do.
This is because in our human wisdom we don’t have an accurate idea about what gives a person true value. If we did, the Son of God wouldn’t have been nailed to a cross and crucified. Instead, we would have honored Him, knowing one day, as we read in Philippians 2:10-11, that “EVERY KNEE WILL BOW… and… EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.”
The only One truly capable of judging your worth is the One who created you and paid the price to call you His own. In Jesus, you’re eternally love according to Jeremiah 31:3, you are accepted according to Romans 15:7, you are adequate according to 2 Corinthians 3:5, and you are victorious according to 1 Corinthians 15:57.
Trust what God said in His Word about you and embrace your true identity.
Prayer thought: “Father, teach me to see my worth through Your eyes. Thank You for creating, loving, redeeming, and planning a wonderful future for me, amen.”
