Have you ever dealt with restlessness? I suppose everyone at times deals with a restless spirit. There are many reasons for this, but one is because we’re doing things our own way rather than aligning with God’s perfect will for our life.
Esther 6 is a beautiful example of this. Esther 6:1 reads, “On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.”
King Ahasurerus had been unwittingly deceived into signing an edict for the destruction of the Jewish people. Subsequently, the king could not sleep because of a restless spirit. So he called for the chronicles to be read, and through them discovered an error that ultimately led to the salvation of the Jewish people.
I wonder, has God made YOU restless? You can’t put a finger on it; you don’t know why the agitation is there – but you have an uneasiness in your heart that just won’t go away?
Don’t be surprised – the Father is actively seeking your attention. When such a time comes, the wise thing to do is to stop and ask the Lord what He’s trying to say to you.
My advice is to simply respond to restlessness with obedience.
Prayer: “Lord, when my spirit is restless, remind me to seek You. I want to know Your prefect will and how You desire me to proceed, amen.”
