Is it really worth my time? That’s the question for today.
At times you may wonder if the time you spend in prayer, reading God’s Word, and waiting in His presence has any real impact on your life. I’m telling you, it absolutely does! Though you may not feel any closer to the Lord, practicing these spiritual disciplines increases the Father’s influence in your life – especially as you obey Him.
Paul wrote in the Book of Galatians, chapter 6, verses 8 & 9, “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (KJV)
Here is how the New Living Translation say it: “Those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
But like everything else in the Christian life, trusting the Father to transform you “by the renewing of your mind” as we’re told in Romans 12:2, as you seek Him in an act of faith. You’re sowing unseen seeds to the Spirit, who then grows an amazing, eternal harvest of the Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, self-control, and faithfulness in you (Galatians 5:22-23).
Often you don’t detect that His fruit is showing through you, but others do. And they love the Lord more because of it.
So my friend, don’t despair. Keep seeking God through prayer and Bible reading. And be confident that the time you spend with Him is yielding great eternal rewards.
Prayer: “Lord, thank You for transforming me during these quiet times as I wait upon You. May my life glorify You today and always, amen.”
