Daily Devotions

As we begin a new week, we are excited about the prospect of being able to gather together as a church family for the first time since April 19th! On Sunday, May 17th we will open our doors at 10:30 a.m. for “Family Worship!” It will be a service of giving praise to God for how He has protected and cared for our families throughout this unprecedented time.
The psalmist David wrote in Psalm 18:3a, “I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised:”
That’s what our first Sunday back will be all about, praising God because He IS worthy of our praise!
There may certainly be times when you find it challenging to praise God. Conflicts and burdens can certainly weigh so heavily on your heart that worry and despair consume you. Perhaps that is true of you during this COVID-19 pandemic, which is far from over. Our lives will perhaps be changed forever because of it.
But even during times of adversity, your Savior is worthy of your adoration. Jesus has not only given you eternal life (John 3:16) and conquered every challenge you face (John 16:33), but He loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) and would never abandon you (Hebrews 13:5).
We read in Psalm 46:1-2a, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear…”
Verse 7, “The LORD of hosts is with us…”
Verse 10, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Verse 11, “The LORD of hosts is with us…”
This is the very reason you must set aside time to know Him and praise Him. Because when you meditate on His Word, you discover who He really is a – wonderful, holy, omnipotent, wise, and merciful God. And the better you know your loving Lord, the more you’ll want o exalt and praise Him for who He is and all He’s done for you.
So what’s preventing you from praising God? Do your circumstances seem overwhelming? Then take a moment to be still before Him. Think about Jesus – His unconditional love, His unfailing friendship, and His wonderful plans for your life. Focus on Him. Soon enough, the praise will certainly flow from your lips, I promise.
With great joy we look forward to seeing you on Sunday, May 17th!
