What are you anchored to? The prophet Isaiah wrote in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which i please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
My appeal to you is to anchor yourself to God’s all-sufficient Word. No matter what storms may come your way, and they WILL come, God’s Word always stands firm and it WILL prevail. Every form of earthly security may disappoint you, but I promise you, God’s Word will not. It cannot. Backed by the awesome power of Almighty God Himself, His promises are fully accomplished and absolutely victorious.
1 Kings 8:56 says, “Blessed (or happy) be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.”
However, here’s the true challenge for each of us: believing Scripture when all else seems contrary. This is what Peter faced as he walked on the wind-battered sea to Jesus (Matthew 14:25-33). Though Jesus called him, he was distracted by the storm around him and he began to sink under the raging waves. That’s how we may feel when we take our eyes off Jesus in the midst of our raging storm. But genuine faith takes God’s Word as even more reliable than whatever else may appear – no matter how real it seems.
In like manner, as you cling to God’s promises during the storms, eventually you’ll come to a crisis of faith; either you’ll accept what God says and put it to practice, or you’ll sink back into your state of helplessness. It’s your choice which direction you choose. Keep your eyes on the Savior and your heart anchored to God’s Word. His Word doesn’t fail, and neither will you when you trust completely in Him.
