The Psalmist David wrote in Psalm 56:3-4, “What time i am afraid, i will trust in thee. in God i will praise his word, in God i have put my trust; i will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”
Did you notice that in verse 3, David didn’t say, “If i am afraid.” He said, “What time” or “When.” Can you identify with David? Admit it, times of fearfulness “will come” into your life. Anxieties will arise – not only because this is a fallen world, but also because, in order to teach you faith, the Father must bring you to the end of yourself so you will choose to trust Him. During this COVID-19 pandemic have you been fearful or anxious? Times of fear and anxiety are never welcomed but they provide necessary lessons and prove to be an indispensable part of maturing you as a believer.
So today, consider: Is your heart in despair? Are questions, painful thought, or fears flooding your mind? is there an overwhelming situation that you cannot handle?
Do as David did and come back to the truth of your Father’s perfect provision and unfailing care for your every need. God has not abandoned you and He never will (Deuteronomy 31:6, 8). Trust Him to help you.
Prayer: “Lord, when i am afraid, i will trust You and have faith in Your provision and protection. Thank You for loving me and drawing me closer to You, amen.”
