Daily Devotions

For a lot of people the holidays are very hard. For many depression is a real emotion. Difficulties of all kinds flood their lives and they don’t know what to do, or where to turn. Sometimes it is difficult to know who to go to with your troubles. Who can really understand your unique challenges, respond with wisdom, and help you in a meaningful way?
In a sense, this was the purpose of the Old Testament priesthood. These godly men were called to represent the people of God and help others understand the Lord’s wisdom, character, and direction. However, like all sinful, limited human beings, they often fell short.
But when Jesus Christ came into the world, He became a High Priest unlike any other. He understands your situation perfectly because He knows you better than you know yourself. He is all-knowing, wise, and powerful enough to help you regardless of what you face. Best of all, He not only represents you to God, He IS God, with every resource in existence at His disposal. He lovingly provides exactly what you need, when you need it!
The author of the Book of Hebrews wrote in Hebrews 4:15, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
Listen, others may fail you, but Jesus NEVER will! So seek Him and be assured you will find wisdom and mercy in abundance at His throne of grace.
Prayer thought: “Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus to be our perfect High Priest, regardless of the challenges we face in life, amen.”
