In Psalm 119:105 we read, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a lamp unto my path.”
When we neglect God’s Word and don’t build it into our lives every day, we can be all too easily deceived by the enemy of our soul, Satan. But the better we know God’s Word, the more readily we will be able to identify our Heavenly Father’s voice over the voice of our enemy, and his lies.
Always remember: Satan’s ultimate goal is to turn you away from the Lord’s will and service. He seeks to temp, discourage, and render you ineffective through his lies. And so, he will accuse you in ways that are inconsistent with or distort the Word of God.
As an example, if you confess your sins, you’re not involved in any disobedience, and you still feel guilty and condemned, you are most likely believing the enemy’s lie and living with false guilt though your Savior has cleansed you from all unrighteousness. Read 1 John 1:9 and you’ll see what I’m talking about. This is why it is so important for you to be firmly grounded in the truth.
Listen, whatever your need may be; advice on a relationship, help with finances, direction about a job change, etc., the Bible will offer you godly guidance. God will never tell you anything that violates the principles of His Word.
Prayer thought: “Father God, thank You for Your Word and the light it provides when my way is dark. Through Your Word You have given me all I need for life and godliness, amen.”
For today, take the time to read and meditate on God’s Word, it’s good for the soul!
