We read in 1 Samuel 12:22, “For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it has pleased the LORD to make you his people.”
Isn’t that a wonderful verse? To know that the LORD has made us His people. We are His own.
So, when you feel isolated, forsaken, misunderstood, and perhaps even unwanted, remember the great love Jesus has for you. He is always drawing you into His presence to remind you of just how much He really loves and cares for you.
How can you know this for sure? Because that’s been His character throughout history. In the Old Testament, the Lord was constantly reaching out to his people, revealing Himself to them. He desires companionship, fellowship, and communion with those who will respond to Him in like manner.
In the New Testament, we find that Jesus knew what it was to be lonely, but He also knew what it was to be comforted even in the face of abandonment.
Jesus said in John 16:32, “Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.”
Please know that the LORD is intensely concerned for you and He wants you to know with certainty that He is closer to you than the very breath you breathe. Though you may “feel” isolated and lonely at times, you are never actually alone because we are told in the book of Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 8 that “Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
I like what Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Prayer thought: “Lord Jesus, thank You for the comfort I feel knowing I am never alone. You are always with me wherever I go.”
Today, focus on this truth, be comforted by the Lord’s friendship.
