Do you ever find it tempting to play the comparison game? To look at others and say, “At least I don’t sin like that guy,” or “I’m doing better than she is.”
Please understand that God doesn’t judge us based on what others are doing.
In John’s gospel, chapter 4 verses 28-29 we read, “The woman then left her Waterpots, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did, is not this the Christ?”
The woman at the well had been married 5 times and was presently living with a man who wasn’t her husband. But Jesus didn’t say to her, “You’re a sinner. Don’t talk to Me!” Instead, Jesus told her He would provide her with water that never runs dry. You can read the account in John 4:4-41. And that notorious woman ultimately brought many Samaritans to Jesus.
Every person has potential and only God knows fully what that potential is. In the end, God rewards you on the basis of three criteria:
- How much truth you know,
- What opportunities He gives you to express it, and
- What your response is in those moments.
And so, I would encourage you NOT to compare yourself to others. Rather, obey God faithfully in whatever He gives you to do, and He will do the rest.
Prayer thought: “Lord Jesus, help me honor You by becoming everything You created me to be, amen.”
Today, focuse your full potential on Christ and don’t compare yourself to others.
